Anybody dispersed under this order is liable to arrest should they refuse to comply with the order or return to the area while the order is in place.

The order is currently in place until 8pm tomorrow (Thursday, March 19), with the option to extend it if necessary.

Police will be in the area for the remainder of the day, the force has warned.

The two presenters worked together alongside James May on both BBC’s Top Gear and Prime Video’s The Grand Tour for more than two decades.

Mr Clarkson lives in Oxfordshire, where he runs Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington and The Farmer’s Dog pub in Asthall, near Burford.

It has been reported that Mr Hammond has bought a six-bedroom Georgian manor house near Abergavenny in Wales.

With a price tag of £2m, the mansion that was bought with cash comes with a tennis court, wine cellar, conservatory, lake and outbuildings for his collection of cars and motorbikes.

Villagers have seen the TV presenter shopping in Waitrose, with one telling The Sun: “It’s great having a celebrity face in town.

It was reported last week that some Abergavenny locals are fearful that Mr Clarkson may follow his former co-star and pal to the Welsh town.

However, the 65-year-old has quashed this idea of a move to reunite with Mr Hammond while writing in The Sun.

He said: “Residents in the pretty Welsh town of Abergavenny said this week that after Richard Hammond bought a house in the area, they were ‘fearful’ that I’d do the same thing.

“Well, relax, boyos, because why would I want to live near Richard Hammond?

“The roads are dangerous enough as it is without having to worry about him coming round the corner, on fire and on his roof.”

Mr Clarkson’s jibes made reference to Mr Hammond’s multiple car crashes, which occurred while the TV shows the pair worked on together.

The foodhall at Fairacres Retail Park is expected to open later this month and contractors said they hoped it would open by April 27.

Building work is continuing outside the former Homebase retail unit, and new white signs showing the ‘M&S Abingdon’ logo have gone up for the first time, after the Homebase signs were removed.

The retail site spans more than 18,000 sq ft and the foodhall comes as part of the M&S “rotation and renewal programme”.

The new store will create 75 jobs and recruitment is now under way.

According to M&S, the new foodhall will offer the best of M&S Food, including fresh produce from Select Farms, everyday essentials from M&S’ Remarkable Value and Bigger Pack Better Value ranges, a hot chicken counter and an in-store bakery.

A dedicated click and collect point will also allow customers to easily pick up their fashion, home and beauty online orders.

The opening of the store will be “a big step forward for the town as a whole,” town councillor Oliver Forder said earlier.

DIY store Homebase closed at Fairacres in February last year.

It had opened in a new unit at the retail park in 2021 where Costa Coffee and Lidl can also be found.

Paddy Sunderland, store manager at M&S Abingdon, said: “We’re so excited to open the doors of our brand-new food store in Abingdon this spring – customers don’t have long to wait.

“In the meantime, we’re thrilled to be building a team of exceptional colleagues at the store, who will help deliver the best possible shopping experience for our customers.”

Shoppers have welcomed the arrival of the new foodhall, as it will save them a journey to Didcot or Oxford.
