The incident happened at around 8.30am on Monday, April 20 when a woman was walking through an underpass beneath Concorde Avenue in Banbury.

She was travelling from Bridge Street towards the rear of Lidl on her way to the Spiceball gym when she was approached by the unknown man.

He was standing in the underpass and as the victim approached, he spoke to her and behaved in an “inappropriate manner”, according to officers.

The woman was not physically injured but is said to have been left distressed by the incident.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the expose incident as part of their investigation.

A spokesman for the force said: “Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, was in the area at the time, or anyone else who may have experienced similar behaviour in the same location.

“Anyone with information, CCTV, dash‑cam, or mobile phone footage is asked to call 101 or make a report on our website, quoting reference number 43260197969.”

Arriving at the headquarters of the British Formula E team in Kidlington, the Prince of Wales met drivers and engineers.

In the factory, the prince was greeted by Antonio Felix da Costa, the 2020 FE world champion, who offered him the chance to sit behind the wheel of a development car, identical to the team’s current model.

“There’s not a lot of room in the legs, is there?” joked Prince William, who stands at 6ft 3in, as he settled into the car.

Da Costa talked the prince through what it is like to race the car, as well as its equipment and features.

“And your head, would you be slightly lower down?” the royal asked.

“I would say slightly lower than you are now,” Da Costa replied.

Before getting out of the car, the prince thanked the sportsman, adding “that’s fantastic”.

Prince William, who is known to have an interest in the environment, appeared enthusiastic and engaged as he asked questions about the sustainability aspect of FE, something he described as “incredible”, and told engineers they are “doing very well”.

He wished the team luck ahead of their races in Berlin next month, and said: “I’m very excited to see you racing, I’m going to cheer you guys on.”

Meeting young engineers who had completed a graduate programme with Jaguar TCS Racing, the prince told them he had joked with their colleagues earlier that, with so many innovations in the sport, “at what point does the driver become the weak link?”

He added: “[At what point do we think] get rid of drivers, we’ll get an AI person in?

“We’re probably not far off that, are we?”

Speaking to 22-year-old graduate Phoebe Russell, the prince remarked that motorsport is “not necessarily the first thing women would think about joining”.

He then asked: “Was it easy for you to find your way into this world?”

Ms Russell replied, “Not at all”, adding that she grew up with the sport, and speaking after the visit, she said she was “in shock” after meeting the prince.

She said: “Being asked to do a little career talk was very exciting.

“The fact that he had so much awareness of the sport and so much interest, and it ties into his whole sustainability project, it was very interesting.”

Jack Lambert, head of technical integration at Jaguar TCS Racing, who gave the prince a tour of the premises, was delighted with the visit.

“It went really well,” he said.

“When he’s here, and you’re spending time with him, it’s just a conversation as he’s so relaxed and interested.

“Having that level of interest makes the conversation so much easier, and it allows our guys who maybe don’t do this on a regular basis to have a really nice conversation about what they do and what they’re passionate about.

“And that’s where the magic comes out.”

The 2026 Night of Excellence awards from Greene King Pub Partners included a major shock for one pub in Wallingford.

Attended by hundreds of licensees from across the UK who work with the hospitality sector group, as well as leaders from across the sector and the pub industry, the night saw 16 awards up for grabs.

These range from ‘community pub of the year’ to ‘pub team of the year’, as well as the coveted overall ‘pub of the year’ award.

This year’s winner of the biggest prize of all was The Dolphin in St Mary’s Street, Wallingford.

The pub has been proudly run by the same family for more than 23 years, headed by landlady Emma Cox.

It is known as the heart of the community in the town, and has even been recognised by King Charles, who invited the team to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party later this year in recognition of their service to Wallingford.

Ms Cox said the award left her ‘speechless’, as pubs up for the overall pub of the year award aren’t told in advance of their nomination.

“To say it was a surprise is an understatement,” the landlady said. “We’re absolutely flabbergasted.”

Although she wasn’t able to go to the award ceremony herself, Ms Cox’s parents, who are the pub’s previous landlords, accepted the award on the night on all of their behalf.

It’s the second accolade the pub has received from Greene King, after the team won Community Pub of the Year in the 2024 ceremony.

A total of 11 Greene King pubs and seven licensees took home honours from the lavish ceremony and dinner held at the voco St John’s hotel in Solihull on Wednesday night, April 22.

This year, England World Cup winning legend Sir Geoff Hurst, who has made a beer in collaboration with Greene King, attended the awards.

Other winners included Tony Edwards and Iona Roberts, who were jointly presented the lifetime achievement award in recognition of their ‘outstanding’ pub The Five Bells in Henlow, Bedfordshire, and more than 40 years service each in the pub industry, and Gerard Flynn, the founder of True Pub Co., who won the multiple operator of the year award.
